About Us
Marybeth Hewatt • Owner
A Lake Country resident since 2010, Marybeth is the Owner and Operator of Lake Dog • Oconee which she started in 2021 after noticing a need in our area for an elevated home watch and management service that our clients have come to love and appreciate.
In addition, she is Chief Marketing Officer of Alliance Home and Land Group and has Lucky Lady Boutique which you can find at the
Greensboro Antique Mall in beautiful downtown Greensboro.
She was born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and grew up in East Cobb County before moving with her family to a horse farm in Alpharetta, GA. Marybeth grew up as an avid Equestrian competing locally in Hunter-Jumper and then showing her own horses in all levels of the Arabian circuit in Show Hack, Hunter Pleasure, Hunt Seat Equitation and Country English Pleasure.
Marybeth has held many roles in the real estate industry - Pre/Post Closer and Disbursement for O’Kelley & Sorohan, Closing Coordinator and Office Manager for BriarRose - Destination Real Estate & Marketing, Director of Internet Marketing for Hilton Head Lakes, Sales Assistant for her husband at Reynolds Lake Oconee along with many other experiences.
She resides on Lake Oconee with her husband, Chris, and they have three children, Cody (and Karlee) of Athens, GA, Connor a recent graduate of the University of Georgia and Teacher/Coach at his alma mater Gatewood Schools and Jackson, a Class of 2025 graduate of Gatewood Schools and is attending the University of Georgia. They have thoroughly enjoyed their boys sports over the years between football, lacrosse, baseball, track and wrestling.
Their family is completed by 3 dogs – Dixie (Yellow Labrador), Harley (German Shorthaired Pointer), and the newest member, Oakley (English Pointer) who is a Morgan County Humane Society rescue. Marybeth volunteered countless hours to Gatewood Schools lending her time and talents to help improve the school and campus for generations to come through the Gatewood Booster Club. She enjoys riding and showing her Jumper horses, taking sunset cruises on the lake, nights by the fire pit, browsing local boutiques and antique stores and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs!

Cody Hewatt
With over six years of hands-on experience as a certified home inspector, Cody brings ideal experience to Lake Dog • Oconee. He combines his deep knowledge of home systems, structural integrity, and property condition with a passion for helping clients.
Cody's background allows him to spot potential red flags early, guide homeowners with sound advice and provide peace of mind.
Cody and his wife Karlee reside in Athens and she is a middle school math teacher. He enjoys golfing any opportunity he gets.

Connor Richards
Connor attended Gatewood Schools in Eatonton where he was a multi sport athlete (football, wrestling, soccer and track) winning multiple state championships and was a member of the Atlanta Empire Lacrosse Team. After graduation he attended Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, NC where he played lacrosse for the Bobcats as a Middie. After an injury cut his lacrosse career short, he transferred to UGA.
He graduated from the University of Georgia in May 2025 with a
Sports Management degree.
Connor is a Teacher at his alma mater, Gatewood Schools, and coaches football and wrestling.
While his days are busy with teaching and coaching responsibilities he helps Lake Dog • Oconee on weekends and during his summer break.
Connor enjoys fly fishing, snow skiing, and cheering on the Dawgs! He is a paw parent to a black Labrador named Ruger!
Jackson Hewatt
Jackson graduated with Honors from Gatewood School in Eatonton in May 2025 where he was a student since the 1st grade. He was a multi sport athlete (Football, Wrestling, Track, Baseball & Golf), winning seven state championships, and became the school's first State Champion wrestler. He was also inducted into the National Honor Society, on the yearbook committee and a Fellowship of Christian Athletes member.
Now, Jackson is a student at the University of Georgia, majoring in Finance.
He enjoys hiking, going to the gym, playing basketball and cheering on the Dawgs! He enjoys spending time with his dog, Harley, a German Shorthaired Pointer.
Dixie
Dixie is Marybeth's "Lake Dog" and the inspiration to the logo of the company.
Marybeth was the winning bidder for her at the Lake Oconee Food & Wine Festival in 2019 and she has been loved and adored ever since.
Dixie loves the water (lakes, pools, even puddles), going to horse shows with her Mom, car rides and playing with her sisters Harley and Oakley!
